CPR and AED for the Professional Responder

 

  • Course is recommended for public safety personnel, lifeguards, and health care professionals;

  • Course Length: Nine Hours;

  • Training Modules:

    • Care for breathing and cardiac emergencies

    • Two-rescuer CPR

    • Automated external defibrillation (AED)

    • Use of the resuscitation mask and bag-valve mask.

First Aid CPR & AED

 

  • Course is recommended for lay persons for home and community. course participants can take adult, child and infant CPR, automated external defibrillation (AED) and first aid skills, in the combinations listed below.

  • Course Length: 6.5 Hours for Adult CPR, AED and First Aid; Nine Hours with Addition of Infant;

  • Combination Modules Available:

    • Adult CPR/AED

    • Adult CPR/AED and Infant & Child CPR

    • Infant & Child CPR (Requires having current Adult CPR certification)

    • Adult CPR/AED and First Aid

    • Adult CPR/AED, Infant & Child CPR and First Aid

    • First Aid Progression - First Aid only (Requires having current CPR certification)

    Note: The First Aid component within this course does not meet the NYS Education Department requirements for school coaches.

  • Adult Topics covered include:

    • Recognizing and respond to an emergency.

    • How to care for a person who is choking.

    • Checking an unconscious person for life-threatening and non-life-threatening conditions.

    • Recognizing and caring for a person who is not breathing.

    • How to care for a heart attack and how to give CPR.

    • Using and AED and identifying precautions when using and AED.

    • Identifying the signs and symptoms of sudden illness, including stroke, diabetic emergency, poisoning and allergic reactions and care for them.

    • Controlling bleeding.

    • Recognizing and caring for heat and cold related emergencies.
